  • Part-Time Organist – First Presbyterian Church of Alton, IL is seeking a part-time organist to play Sunday Worship Services (10:00 – 11:15 am), beginning September 20, 2020, with the intention of expanding the position to organist/choir director, in January. Choir rehearsals take place on Wednesdays (7:00 – 8:00 pm) and Sunday morning (from 9:00 am). Expanding the position from Organist to Organist/Choir Director will result in a greater compensation.  Worship services are currently being streamed online and include a prelude, postlude, and 2 or 3 hymns. When the choir starts up in January, the worship service will also include accompanying the choir anthem, psalmody, and liturgical music. The organist is expected to play for weddings and funerals but would be compensated additionally for these services. Preferred candidates have at least a bachelor’s degree and experience in playing for church services.
